webOS users, be on the lookout for a very important and mandatory system update

webOS users, be on the lookout for a very important and mandatory system update
For those that are still carrying on with what was arguably one of the best mobile operating systems to never reach its full potential, you will want to pay attention.

On July 23rd, a certificate used on webOS expires which will render use of cloud services like backup/restore and App Catalog unusable. Fortunately, HP has updated the certificate so that webOS devices will continue to work.

The update has been available since early June, and if you are running webOS version 2.1 or later you can have the new certificate installed automatically by simply accepting the update. For devices running an older version of webOS, a manual update is required.

Fortunately, the manual update is about as simple as it gets, go to the HP App Catalog and select the app called “App Catalog Update,” download and install. If for some reason you catch this article after July 23rd, click on the source link and follow instructions to update your device. Fortunately again, that process is relatively painless too, it just involves turning “network time” off, but follow the steps and you will be good to go.
